A COMMUNITY pub in Knuzden will close next month.
Landlord of the Cabin End Hotel Derek Slater has submitted a notice to pub firm Admiral Taverns to close on April 1.
He said: “I would like to thank all my friends and family, for their custom over the years, the pool teams, darts and dominoes team, football teams, the bar staff and anyone else whom I may have forgotten, who have made the Slater family’s time so memorable.”
Cllr Glen Harrison, who represents Knuzden, said it was a blow to the area.
He said: “The Cabin End is the heart of the community. It was used as a polling station when elections are on so what will happen now. I am worried it will be sold for development.”
A spokesman for Admiral Taverns said: “We are focused on working closely with our licensees to support them to run sustainable pub businesses.
"However despite all parties best efforts and the investments we have made, the sustained poor trading performance of the pub has meant we are currently reviewing our options for the Cabin End Hotel.”
