POLICE are treating the death of a woman found in a brook yesterday as 'not suspicious'.
The woman's body was found in Alum House Brook, just off Union Street, in Darwen at around 8.40am.
Her body was recovered and a post mortem examination was carried out yesterday evening.
A police spokesman said a specific cause of death could not be found and further tests will take place.
The spokesman said: "We do not believe her death is suspicious.
"For now our priority is identifying who the woman is and tracing her family."
Four officers from the underwater search unit, dressed in diving gear, were seen going into the brook yesterday.
Two police cars, a crime scene investigation van and paramedics were also called to the scene.
