A WALKER who was out enjoying the sunshine over the weekend was airlifted to hospital after slipping and fracturing her ankle.
The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), were called to the upper Ogden Reservoir in Barley, Pendle, to reports of a fallen walker on Friday afternoon.
When the arrived they assessed the woman and called in a full team and helicopter to assist with the rescue.
A spokesman for the team said: "A team arrived to assist with casualty care and a potentially tricky stretcher carry up the hill.
"The woman had suffered quite a serious ankle fracture and it was decided that using the helicopter would be the most efficient route to hospital.
"After some IV pain relief we stretchered the casualty to the helicopter to be flown to hospital for treatment.
"We all wish her a speedy recovery and many thanks for putting up with some poor jokes and bedside manner whilst being treated!"
