POLICE were attacked when they went to a Nelson house and arrested a teenage girl.
Blackburn magistrates heard Bilal Bashir struggled violently with two female officers and used racist language during the incident.
The teenage girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been dealt with for assaulting a police officer.
Bilal Bashir, 24, of Bracewell Close, Nelson, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and racially aggravated assault of a second officer.
He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 30 days rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £5 and ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
Bashir Ahmed, 62, of Netherfield Road, Nelson, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer.
He was made subject to a community order for six months with 10 days rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £5 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said both men charged at the officers during the incident at a house in Bracewell Close.
A female suffered a wrist injury which prevented her from doing operational duties for some time and she also suffered bruises to her arms and legs.
"The level of aggression shown to the officers was very high," said Miss Akhtar.
"The officers had to use pepper spray to gain compliance."
Vaqas Latif, defending, said Bashir Ahmed didn't actually hit anyone but accepted throwing a punch which amounted to assault.
He said Bilal Bashir and a number of friends had been drinking and his client didn't remember much of what happened.
"He does say that he does not hold racist views and regrets what he said," said Mr Latif.
