THE prospects for East Lancashire’s branches of the butchers Crawshaws have taken a hit.
Bosses at the beleaguered chain, which went into administration on Wednesday, released a list of 19 locations where it is said to be ‘business as usual’.
But neither the Blackburn outlet, in Railway Road, or the store in St James Street, Burnley, are featured.
Staff are understood to have turned up for work at the Blackburn branch early yesterday but the shutters have remained closed.
Administrators have been seeking to sell the business as a going concern.
Their problems began when they we forced to seek addtional funding from investors earlier this week.
Shares were suspended on the Stock Exchange’s AIM market, while the restructuring talks continued.
The Rotherham-based butchers has 42 stores and 12 factory stores nationwide.
North-west branches to avoid the cull include stores in Liverpool, Manchester’s Arndale Centre, Salford and Wigan.
