DARWEN'S Secret Santa appeal to provide presents for the town's underprivileged children has been launched.
Town Council Mayor Cllr Roy Davies wants firms, shop, sports and social clubs and individuals to either buy gifts or hand cash to the appeal.
It was launched at the weekend at Darwen AFC's Anchor Ground where club officials will collect for the Secret Santa fund at its next two home matches and ask for supporters to bring an item of food to help with hard-up families Christmas lunches.
Cllr Davies said: "I am asking any factories and businesses that have a Secret Santa programme to purchase a child’s present or donate money to our appeal instead of buying one another presents
"Donations can be handed in at Darwen Town Hall, any money given will all be spent on Darwen's underprivileged children."
