A man remains in a critical condition after he was hit by a car on Monday afternoon.
The 59-year-old was rushed to hospital following an accident on Barbara Castle Way in Blackburn.
The accident happened at around 2pm when the man was hit by a grey Volkswagen Golf.
This morning, a police spokesperson said a 27-year-old man from Blackburn who was arrested on suspicion of drug driving has been released on bail.
The spokesperson said: "The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Blackburn, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving but was later released on bail and is under investigation pending further enquiries.
"A 59-year-old man who suffered head injures and a broken leg as a result of the crash remains in a serious condition.
"We are now appealing for any witnesses to the accident to come forward to assist us in our investigations.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Monday and the man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.
At the time, a spokesman for the ambulance service confirmed the man was is in a critical condition with serious head and chest injuries.
The road remained closed for a number of hours after the incident as crews worked to clear away debris.
Traffic was redirected by police and heavy delays were experienced throughout the town centre during the afternoon.
