A RAIDER who went looking for cash at the home of a family he knew was rumbled after he and his accomplice were accidentally recorded on the house phone.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Karl Dunn-Grimshaw, 34, and his accomplice were saying: "Have you got it? Have you got the wad?"
The defendant and his associate were said to have stolen £580 cash and a £3,500 engagment ring from the house on Paythorne Avenue, Burnley.
Dunn-Grimshaw, making his second court appearence in three days, admitted burglary.
He was given eight months in jail, suspended for 18 months, with 180 hours unpaid work.
The defendant, of Brunshaw Avenue, Burnley, must also pay £2000 compensation and £600 costs.
Two days before, he had admitted attacking the mother of his child, at Burnley Magistrates' Court.
Francis McEntee, prosecuting, said the defendant broke into the house at. 9.15pm on March 3 He said the householder found a recording had been made on the house telephone. She could hear two men she knew.
Wayne Goldstein, defending, said the offence seemed to be isolated and Dunn-Grimshaw was not likely to repeat his conduct.
