A READING challenge has allowed students of a primary school to get creative with where they read as they take pictures in all kinds of places.
Pupils from St Augustine’s RC Primary School in Burnley are taking the We Are Reading initiative from Lancashire Authority to great heights.
Students sent in a picture of where they were reading over the summer holidays and it certainly fired up their imaginations.
Lola Whittaker managed to get a photograph of herself reading on a jet ski in Cyprus, Henry Shepherd in Sydney Harbour and Quinton-Reid Andrew-Fuller managed to read in the boot of a car, in goal and under a sign.
They have also found imaginative places to read in the school such as, in the lift and in the cloakroom.
Head teacher Sinead Colbeck said: "We are keen to promote reading and our pupils love it. We were amazed when the photos came through of where the students had been reading. One even tried to read with a headstand!
"In school we encourage reading anywhere, within reason, and the pupils have embraced the We Are Reading initiative."
