Police are issuing a warning after an elderly man was scammed out of thousands of pounds.
On Wednesday, Ribble Valley Police received a report from a concerned resident following an incident whereby her father had fallen victim to a scam.
It is believed the elderly vulnerable victim was duped out of several thousand pounds following a cold call on or around October 15.
A police spokesperson said: "We believe her father received a cold call on or around the 15th of this month from a person stating they were from a fraud team and provided account details that her father should deposit his money.
"Her father has then attended his bank and transferred the money having had the advice from the caller that bank staff were not to be trusted and if challenged by them state the money was a transfer to his daughter for house repairs."
Police have advised residents to be vigilant and are reminding them that any financial institution would never ask anyone to do this.
Action fraud and the bank in question are now investigating the given lines of enquiry.
The spokesperson continued: "Please share this with any family members or anyone you may feel could be vulnerable to such a scam."
