MOTORISTS have been asked to keep their belongings out of sit e after a rise in calls of thefts from cars in Blackburn.
Sergeant Craig Jarrett said there have been a sharp increase in calls, particularly from the Fernhurst Farm/Oakdale estate in the town and in nearby Wilpshire.
Sergeant Jarrett said wallets, laptops, bags and other personal belongings have been taken from cars in the past few days, as well as several reports of car doors being tried.
He said: "We've been told the attempts are being made between 3pm and 6pm.
"We've had reports of a white man with dark hair, wearing a grey coat and backpack has been seen trying car doors near the estate.
"I would advise everyone to make sure all their belongings are kept out of site and away from view so thieves are not tempted into trying your car.
"If anyone sees anything they should contact 101."
