GHOULISH fans flocked to a horror convention to dress up as thrilling characters.

Blackburn’s first ‘horror con’ welcomed so-called cosplayers and traders from all over the UK to Ewood Park.

Organised by the Whitehead Group, the co-owner Jessica Whitehead wanted to bring horror fans together.

There were spooky bath bombs and drawings of famous evil characters among the stalls, terrifying cosplayers walked the room, as Braveheart and Exorcismus star Nathan Head, and model Dani Thompson signed autographs.

Mrs Whitehead said: “There hasn’t been anything like this here before, so it’s different and there’s a large interest.

“We chose Ewood Park because of its locality, ease of access and it’s a nice venue people like.

“Maybe in the past people have thought Blackburn was too small an area to hold a horror con, but we’ve got people coming here today from all over.”

Burnley based artist, Sheikh Islam showcased his impressive artwork, with comic book characters such Deadpool, the Joker, and the Red Skull.

The 46-year-old travels around the country for conventions, and also works with Topps Sketch Cards to create official Star Wars art.
