Glenn Philip Reid, 26, of Cloister Drive, Darwen, was remanded on bail by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to damaging a six foot by four foot double glazed window worth £400 belonging to Donna Duckworth.
The court heard that the window belonged to Reid's cousin and he had already made arrangements for another member of the family, who works for a double glazing manufacturing firm, to replace the unit.
Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said Reid should be given the opportunity to put right the wrong he had done.
"Clearly, it would also have an impact on any claim for compensation if the work has been completed," said Mr Ainge.
