A LORRY driver accused of causing the death of a woman killed when his lorry overturned onto her car today denied the offence.
Brian Kynaston pleaded not guilty to causing the death of retired lecturer Valerie Taylor on November 1 last year by driving a Mercedes tractor trailer unit dangerously.
She was killed when the articulated lorry carrying 40 tonnes of scrap metal toppled onto her Peugeot 206 on Edge Lane, Liverpool, as both vehicles left the M62 in Broadgreen.
The 63-year-old victim, of Haslingden Old Road, Rawtenstall, formerly a lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale Colleage, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her partner Jimmy Derbyshire, 59, escaped unhurt. Tragically, however, he drowned in a stream behind their home in March.
Kynaston, 42, of Oswestry, Shropshire, was further remanded on bail by Liverpool Crown Court to await his trial, expected to last about seven days, beginning on November 19.
