A WOMAN who hates cooking has appeared on a prime time TV show and won a holiday - for making dumplings!

Carole Thompson, 44 from Castlerigg Drive, Burnley, and a lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale College, went on a Lancashire Telegraph reader holiday trip to see 'That Anthony Cotton show.' The ITV show is hosted by the Coronation Street star Anthony, from Edenfield, who plays Sean Tully.

And although Carole would rather eat a microwave meal than cook, she competed with another woman who was also on the Telegraph trip to see who could make the best dumpling.

Carole, a finance officer at Accrington and Rossendale College, was called up on Friday August 31 by the show and asked if she wanted to take part in a audience cooking competition.

Carole said: "When we arrived at Granada Studios I was taken to one side and given priority seating so the camera crews would know where to find me if I was chosen. During the show they always have a competition where the audience participates.

"I was shocked when my name was called out and a spotlight shone on me, I went into a daze, I'd been in the audience of a chat show before but never on the stage.

"As it's not filmed live we were taken behind the scenes and prepped on what we were to do they called us out onto the stage to meet celebrity chef Nancy Lam who showed us how to make dumplings.

"We then had to make the as many dumplings as we could in a minute. We only managed to make one each.

"We were marked on presentation and I was amazed when I was told I had won and would get a holiday to Spain for two people. I wouldn't call myself a keen cook so it was quite a shock. I usually eat things that are easy too cook like microwave meals.

"Anthony Cotton and Nancy Lam were really nice and friendly, it was a really fantastic day."

The show will be aired tomorrow night at 5pm and features Cleo Rocos from The Kenny Everett Television Show and Wendy Richard from EastEnders.
