A hoaxer who maliciously called the fire service saying people were trapped in a burning house has been caught by police.
Fire bosses have hit out at the caller for tying up resources following the fake alert in Accrington just before 4am on August 17.
Police said the man was issued with an £80 fine as it was his first offence.
