The U9's had a great start to their first ever Accy league game with an excellent 7-0 away win.

The U10's lost 4-0 to last years Champions Accrington Stanley Rishton Utd U11's 2-3 Clitheroe Wolves The game started very evenly with both teams creating chances but showing nothing for it. Clitheroe took the lead in the 5th minuite when the ref adjudged that an infringement took place outside the box, and awarded a free kick. This decision was very harsh and even worse was to follow, the free kick was deflected off the wall and gave keeper Kelly no chance. Rishton kept their heads up and came close on a few occasions, with some good efforts from Keiran Higham and Billy Hargreaves HT 0 - 1 In the second half Brad Morris moved into midfield and Ryan Cothliff went up front. Rishton looked more lively but went 2 behind in the 6th minuite, pretty much against the run of play. Undetered Rishton kept trying and they pulled one back in the 27th minuite when Brad Morris had a header which hit the bar and rebounded over the line. The goal was awarded by the ref, when nobody in the ground was all that sure. Maybe poetic justice for the first half decision of the free kick! Unfortunately Rishton conceeded again when a cross from the wing was not cleared properly and the ball ended up in the net. With 2 minutes remaining Brad Morris got his second goal of the game with a tremendous drive from outside the box. An inspiring second half from Brad when he moved to midfield from a striking role.

All in all a good performance from Rishton who deserved something out of the game.

Rossendale Valley 3-7 Rishton Utd The U12's enjoed a perfect start to the season as a 11-a-side team with a win against a spirited Rossendale side. MOTM Kegan Nixon U13's Burnley United 7-2 Rishton Utd 1st League game of the season and it started very badly. Rishton were 4-0 down inside 12 minutes, with 3 of the goals coming from poor passing in Rishton's midfield. At this point it looked like it could be double figures. After the initial 15 minutes, the game settled down and Rishton began to make their passes count. Rishton created one or two chances, but Burnley always looked capable of scoring more. Rishton managed to pull one back before half time when Jake Holdsworth finished off a good move down the right. Half Time 4-1.

The second half started as the first had finished with both teams playing some decent stuff, but Burnley were to go on and score 3 more goals, before Rishton could pull another consolation goal back. Jake Holdsworth again applying the finish to a good move down the right. A disappointing start to the season, but there were signs that Rishton could perhaps turn things round in their next match on Monday at home to Akzo.

Rishton Utd U15's 6-2 Clitheroe Wolves The Under 15's got off to a solid start with a 6-2 win over Clitheroe Wolves.

At times they played quality, flowing football and manager Joey Buchanan will be looking for that level at all times in future games.

Ben Cross opened the scoring, Corey Slater scored from the penalty spot and a second half hat-trick from 'Big' Sam Yates and one from Ryan Haworth completed the scoring. James Williamson was the ref's man-of-match.

Barnoldswick Town 3-1 Rishton Utd Rishton under 16s season started with a home defeat against Barnoldswick Town 3 - 1. Rishton fell behind midway through the first half against the run of play but continued to push forward and equalised with a good finish from Ben Bridson. Rishton should have been leading by half time if they had finished better. The second half was end to end and again Rishton had chances to win the game but Barnoldswicks finishing was more clinical. Man of the match was Luke McVarish who bossed the midfield from start to finish.
