At last construction work has commenced on the Greenway - Cycle Path that will connect Huncoat Railway Station to the heart of Accrington.
The initial stage of the path, from Bluebell Way estate through to Bolton Avenue, will provide a high standard of footpath and cycle way that has long been needed. It will be illuminated and provide a much better, dryer surface for those with pushchairs. Linking Within Grove with Huncoat Primary School.
The path will cross Bolton Ave and through to Windermere Ave, crossing the Site of Community Interest, which will be developed under the REMADE Scheme, and through the pedestrian tunnel. From here it will take a sharp left and follow the railway line towards the Cricket Club and Thornyholme Road.
This will provide an excellent route for cyclists and walkers into town and to both Moorhead & St Christophers Schools.
