A MAN who turned a blind eye when he found drugs in his bedroom at his lodgings has been jailed for ten months.
Preston Crown Court was told a police search at the Bacup address unearthed heroin with a street value of £5,000 and cocaine worth £600.
Hasan Mumtaz, 22, of Buccleugh Road, Nelson, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Mark Lamberty, prosecuting, told the court that on January 27 this year police executed a search warrant at Infirmary Street, Bacup, where Mumtaz had occupied a rear bedroom.
They found £2,500 in cash, drugs, and electronic scales.
Mr Lamberty said Mumtaz had come across the items in his room and did nothing about it.
The court heard Mumtaz had a record for violence but no previous convictions for drug offences.
Neil Usher, defending, said Mumtaz strongly felt that someone had set him up and he should have contacted police.
Recorder Arthur Noble told Mumtaz: "In my judgement this is a case which crosses the custody threshold."
