POLICE have arrested another four people on the third day of drugs raids in Pendle.

Four warrants were issued and four arrests were made in Nelson this morning.

The raids took place in Charles Street, Rock Street, Thursden Street and Sackville Street, at 8am. Officers removed a quantity of substances from the properties, believed to be class A drugs.

Over 40 police officers were involved in the raids, which were the culmination of a seven-month undercover operation into the suspected supply of class A drugs.

Insp Russ Procter, Pendle's geographic inspector, said that the raids would hopefully send a message to drug dealers.

He said: "We have four people in custody who are being interviewed, three for supply and one for the possession of class A drugs."

Mr Procter said that officers had moved swiftly to bring other suspects to court: "Those charged on Thursday were up in court on Friday and those charged on Wednesday were in court on Thursday.

"The four arrested on Friday were all males aged 19-24 years old.

"Searches of the properties have been conducted and drugs have been found, but we do not know how much or what drugs they are."

The substances will now be tested to clarify what they are.

Five people were also arrested on Wednesday in Brierfield and Colne suspected of supplying drugs.

The raids were part of Operation Nimrod, a force wide operation dedicated to tackling drugs-related crime right across the county.
