TRADERS are being reminded that there is just one month to go before the minimum age for buying tobacco is raised to 18.

Shops can face a fine of up to £2,500 if caught selling cigarettes, cigars, loose rolling tobacco and even rolling papers to youngsters.

Lancashire County Council's Trading Standards officers are raising the issue in order to ensure traders are making preparations to meet the new regulations.

The new regulations come into force on October 1.
