Fishing without a rod licence proved costly for two Burnley anglers when they appeared before Hyndburn magistrates.
Edward Michael Peter Kirkby, 53, of Fraser Street, Whalley, admitted fishing without a rod licence at Pendle View Fishery and was fined £125 with £90 costs.
Matthew Wrathall, 19, of Burnley Road, Cliviger, pleaded guilty to fishing without a rod licence and failing to give his name and address to a bailiff. He was fined £180 with £90 costs.
The court heard that Kirkby had a licence which entitled him to fish with two rods but was actually using three. Wrathall was also fishing with three rods and did not have a licence.
