The cause of a former nursing chief's death was drowning, an inquest confirmed yesterday.
Margaret Yates MBE, 69, died off the coast of the Isles of Scilly after a sudden change in sea conditions.
The inquest was adjourned by Isles of Scilly Coroner Ian Arrow to a date to be fixed.
Mrs Yates died on Sunday after the 16ft motor boat she was in, with her husband Albert, 74, and friend Brian Richards, capsized.
Coastguards said the trio were picked up by a local boat, but Mrs Yates was already dead.
None of them were wearing a lifejacket, coastguards said.
Mr Yates and Mr Richards, who is in his 80s and owned the boat, were discharged from hospital after treatment.
Mrs Yates lived in Whinney Lane, Lammack, until her move to Devon with her husband five years ago.
Her funeral is expected to take place next week.
