SCHOOLCHILDREN in Lancashire are celebrating being well-connected.
All schools across the county are now fully connected to CLEO, the regional specialist broadband network for education, which means pupils can benefit from the massive resources of the internet.
CLEO is Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online, a government-funded partnership between Lancashire and Cumbria County Councils.
Since 1998 the network has been working towards high-speed broadband provision for all schools, across both counties, to support the use of ICT in the classroom.
The technology has been provided by Lancaster University Network Services Limited.
Its engineering team has been tackling the problem of bringing 100per cent connectivity to almost 1,000 schools, including the area's smallest and most remote rural schools.
A celebration was held at Lancaster University to mark the achievement.
