The fun day was a great success again.
The day started very early, 5.30am to be exact. Burger van had to be collected then taken to the car boot sale site and set up for 8am, then at 12pm moved up to the main site. Toilets had to be delivered to both sites at 7.30am. Tables had to be collected at 9am and set out. Numerous gazebos and a marquee needed erecting and arena's needed roping off.
Everyone pulled together and worked so hard. One resident even swept all the loose road chippings off the pavement.
We had a good turnout at the car boot sale. 18 stalls but unfortunately there were not many buyers. (cant expect too much for our 1st car boot sale) The fun day was a blast. The dog show went extremely well again. It gets better every year. This year we had a display by an Arabic Dance Troupe, stocks, police, fire engine, face painting, temp tattoos, balloon art, hair braiding and much much more.
Our ward councillor Cllr Julie Slater was a trooper, she was with us all day, helping out where needed. Jake Berry, the Conservative MP Candidate was will us till mid afternoon.
I would like to offer thanks to Cllr Julie Slater, Jake Berry, Janet Anderson MP, and special thanks to the residents who worked like troopers on the day. Geoff Hilton, Margaret Hilton, Ian McAvoy, Liz Stephenson, Irene Guy, Kevin Guy, Stuart Williamson (snr), Mark Taylor, Stuart Williamson (jnr), Kelly Hunt, Gloria Boyle, Wes Boyle and Michael Aspden (snr) and all other residents for the support they gave.
Next Years event is already in the planning stages. All attractions and displays are being kept quiet for now. But we promise to put on a good 3rd Annual Fun Day. Each year we try to expand on the previous year.
