A FOOTBALL-sized ostrich egg was the main ingredient as Bacup enjoyed its biggest-ever breakfast.
The town's black pudding festival celebrated the best of Lancashire by cooking a giant full English, complete with a super-sized sausage, an ostrich egg and huge slices of the local delicacy.
The black pudding festival began at the Crown Hotel eight years ago, but this year it was moved into a bigger base at the leisure hall.
All proceeds from the event will go to Derian House children's hospice, Chorley, and organiser Neville Earnshaw said he expected this year's event to raise around £5,000.
He said: "It's been a great success at the new venue.
"Having the festival in the hall has meant we have been able to do a lot more - the demonstrations were new this year, and we are already thinking of ways we can make it even better this year.
"The giant breakfast was really popular and we had great fun cooking it.
"Even though we'd had to attack it with a drill to get it open, we didn't break the ostrich egg yolk and it fried perfectly.
"We had a pan a metre wide, and the egg alone covered about half of that.
"Altogether it took about half an hour to cook, and it did look really good when we had finished.
"Everyone really enjoyed that, and we let people have a try of the finished product afterwards - they all gave it their seal of approval!"
