PENDLE'S four day walking festival gets underway on August 31.
The Mayor of Pendle, Coun Allan Buck, who recently prepared for the festival by climbing the three highest hills in Pendle, will lead the nine-mile Beat the Bounds walk round Barnoldswick on Sunday.
Beat the Bounds will be one of 40 free walks in the four-day festival.
The Mayor and fellow ramblers will leave Victory Park, Barnoldswick at 10.30am.
As preparation for the walk the mayor, along with attendant Jacqui King and John Belbin, organiser of the festival, reached the summits of Pendle, Boulsworth and Weets.
The free walks range from two miles to 12.
