THE ex-boyfriend of a former Whalley barmaid who was found dead in Australia has been remanded in custody.
Ty Ronald Delavale, 25, appeared at Perth Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with the death of Anya Patrice Campbell, 24.
Miss Campbell, who worked behind the bar at the Whalley Arms for seven months last year, was found dead in the bathroom of her Mathis Way duplex earlier this month.
The bubbly barmaid had been travelling around the UK with her 28-year-old sister Sinead and came to East Lancashire to stay with family looking for work experience.
Anya, the youngest daughter of Ian and Dee Campbell, of Warwick, Perth, returned to Australia last Christmas after her mother became ill.
Police discovered Anya's body after forcing their way into the Carine property on August 1.
At the time, police charged Mr Delavale with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
The charge was upgraded on Monday after the results of a post-mortem examination. Mr Delavale is due to reappear in court on November 8.
