A MAN has been arrested after a drugs raid by police at a house in Great Harwood.

Officers stormed a home in Orchard Street at 8am this morning and seized a quantity of suspected heroin.

A 39-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug.

Community Beat Manager, PC Andy Sarchet, said: "Today we have acted on information received from members of the public and executed a warrant at an address in Great Harwood.

"I hope that members of the community are reassured that we do act on information we receive and take offences such as this extremely seriously."

PC Sarchet said that he wanted to appeal to the local community for their continued help in the fight against drugs.

He added: "We need you to keep giving us information about people suspected of taking or dealing in drugs. If you suspect drug activity is occurring in your neighbourhood, please do something about it and contact the police."

Since the raid neighbourhood policing officers have been reassuring residents about the operation and leaflets have been distributed in the local area.
