THREE fire appliances were called to Mayfield Flats, Bolton Road, Darwen, in the early hours of this morning.
The incident occured at 12:50am when the occupant of the flat left food cooking in a pan in the kitchen.
There was moderate smoke damage to the kitchen and slight smoke damage to the rest of the property.
Ventilation equipment was used but nobody was injured.
