BARROWFORD'S 85th agricultural show drew bumper crowds to the sun-soaked fields.

Visitors were entertained throughout the day with spectacular displays in the arena, while top Elvis tribute act Steve Preston performed.

Attractions included horses, pets, falconry, a tug-of-war and the final five acts from the show's karaoke competition.

Festival committee chairman Natalie Cox said the event had still drawn in the visitors despite having to cut out the popular handicrafts comp-etition this year because no judge could be found.

She said: "It's been an absolutely fantastic day and both the park and the playing fields have been packed with people.

"It really is a proper family show.

"I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has come along to take part, and of course to all the committee who have worked tirelessly since last year's show to get this one ready.

"The handicrafts section has been missed - we have had a few people asking where it is this year - but we do need people to help us out for things like that and we are confident of getting a new judge appointed for next year."

Officials will spend the next few days counting up this year's visitor numbers and takings, and all cash will be put towards staging next year's event. To take part in the organisation of next year's show, contact Mrs Cox on 01282 696039, or e-mail info@ barowford-show.co.uk
