THE driver of £150,000 Lamborghini has spoken of the moment he wrecked his vehicle in collision with another car.

Three men required hospital treatment following the smash in Montague Street, Blackburn, involving the bright yellow Lamborghini Gallardo and a blue Nissan Sunny.

The collision occurred just after 7pm on Saturday and the three men were transferred to the Royal Blackburn Hospital suffering minor injuries.

They were discharged from hospital later in the evening.

The street was closed for several hours at the junction with Preston New Road as accident investigators assessed the scene.

The high powered Lamborghini was being driven by Yaser Akbar, 32, of Gorse Road, Blackburn.

Mr Akbar walked away unhurt from the collision but his passenger Mohammed Ghafoor, 19, of Meins Road, Blackburn, required medical attention.

Driver of the Nissan, Mohammed Shah, of Summerville Walk, Blackburn, and his middle aged male passenger, also from Blackburn, were cut from the vehicle by firefighters.

The Nissan was pulling out from Devonport Road when the collision happened and the car ended up wedged against a silver Honda parked at the side of the road.

Firefighters cut the roof from the Nissan and lifted out the driver and his passenger.

Watch manager at Blackburn fire station, Andy Barnes, said they were removed in this way as a precaution in case they were suffering from spinal injuries.

Speaking soon after the crash Mr Akbar, who runs H and S Furniture on Montague Street, said he was lucky not to be hurt in the crash.

He said: "I had just finished work and was heading home.

"I was coming up the road and all of a sudden I saw the car coming out. I tried to avoid him but ended up hitting him.

"There's a blind spot for cars coming out of Devonport Road which means they struggle to see down the road, I don't know whether that played a part."

PC Gary Taylor, of Accrington Road Policing unit, said the incident was under review.

"It is under investigation as to what happened on Montague Street. Our investigation is ongoing," he added .
