FIRE officers have applauded workers at Mcauley Mount residential home who evacuated the property after a fire.
Two appliances from Burnley fire service were called to the home on Padiham Road, Burnley, at 11am today when smoke was seen coming from the kitchen.
Firefighters discovered that matches has been lit in the kitchen and quickly dealt with the minor fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "We were very impressed with the way staff dealt with the situation, getting all the residents, including the wheel-chair bound, out safely and quickly."
