SPORTY youngsters in Burnley have received almost £150,000 in lottery funding.
Burnley Council's "A Sporting Chance" scheme allows vulnerable youngsters to achieve recognised qualifications through team and sporting activities.
Organisers said the initiative offers a structured but informal route into skills and employment for teens, and the cash will ensure that it can continue.
Councillor Roger Frost, executive member for leisure and culture, said: "The Big Lottery funding is great news for Burnley and is really about opportunity.
"This funding will allow us to build on our success to date and take more sport to more and more young people."
