EMERGENCY repairs are being carried out to underground cables in Blackburn - leaving a row of street lights out of action.
Ageing cabling is currently being repaired on a stretch of Brownhill Drive, to the junction with Whalley Old Road.
This has led to around 30 street lights being temporarily switched off, resulting in one lane of traffic being closed to vehicles and a 30mph speed limit being put in place.
Coun Alan Cottam, Blackburn with DarwenCouncil's executive member for regeneration, said: "We are carrying out this essential work to repair underground cable and hope that motorists will be patient until this is completed.
"The 30mph speed limit will be clearly marked and road users should allow some extra time for their journeys."
