FAMILY and friends of an 11-month-old girl who was brutally killed are seeking justice one year after her death.

They will be handing out leaflets in a bid to find clues which may lead to the killer of Courtney-Ann Shailes, of Railway Street, Nelson, being caught.

Courtney-Ann Shailes, of Railway Street, Nelson, died on August 23 last year.

Her babysitter Lynn Jeffrey, 37, of Bird Street, Brierfield, had been accused of the murder but was cleared in a trial at Preston Crown Court earlier this year.

During her trial, Ms Jeffrey claimed that ex-boyfriend Andrew Elliott, of Poplar Street, Nelson, was to blame but no charges were ever brought against him.

Courtney-Ann's family and friends are marking her death and hoping to jog people's memories' when they hand out leaflets in Nelson town centre on Saturday.

Samantha Shailes, Courtney-Anne's mum, will also attend.

Samantha's auntie, Jackie Davies, 43, of Shakespeare Street, Padiham, will lead Saturday's memorial.

She said: "We still want a conviction, we want Courtney-Ann's case to be reviewed by someone.

"We have to keep going until we have justice for Courtney-Ann.

"We won't stop until we have justice for her.

"There is one detail that will put the puzzle together, and we won't rest until we find it.

"It doesn't matter how long it takes we will carry on whether it takes five years or 50 years."

Jackie, Samantha, Jackie's husband, Glynn, 34, and a close family friend Glenda Monks, 44, from Padiham will be among the six people wearing a t-shirt with Courtney-Ann's picture on it.

They will be handing out 2,000 leaflets.
