THIS heartwarming footage captures the moment birds started singing as the ash begins to settle on the devastating Winter Hill fire.

The video was posted by Lancashire Wildlife Trust on Monday morning as firefighters continue to toil amid difficult conditions on the moors.

The wildlife organisation named the video 'Birds singing after the fire' and posted: "There is always hope. Standing on Belmont Road overlooking the scene of the fire on Winter Hill, we felt just desolation and despair.

"It started with silence but then we heard the birds singing around us and watched bees and butterflies becoming accustomed to the new landscape while searching for food and water.

"Listening to the birds singing raised our spirits and made us promise to do everything we can, as your Wildlife Trust, to make sure this does not happen again."
