A POST-MORTEM examination into the death of a six-week-old baby boy has proved inconclusive, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to Stoneycroft in Worsthorne at 11.20am on Monday following reports a baby had been found unconscious. An ambulance was called but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the death was being treated as unexplained.
There have not been any arrests.
A police spokesman said: “A post mortem has been carried out and the cause of death remains unexplained.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances around this tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the baby’s family at this difficult time.”
