AN evocative image of life on one of our East Lancashire communities more than 100 years ago.
The cameraman was in Rochdale Road, Bacup - and right in the way of one of the corporation's new electric trams, which had just trundled down the cobbled hill, by the look of it.
The youngsters would probably have never seen a camera, set up on a tripod before or a photographer ducking his head under the cloth to capture the scene for posterity.
Hence their attention is firmly focused on his actions; even the delivery boy, wearing his white apron is turning his head as he walks along the pavement, to watch what is going on.
The young lads who have grouped together are all wearing clogs and flat caps and while some have starched white collars, the boy at the front right appears to be wearing working garments. Next to him is a young boy with his toy hoop.
The open top tram has several passengers, sitting on top on a sunny day, while a horse, pulls a cart, no doubt making a local delivery.
