A SECOND wave of headline acts have been announced for this summer’s Beat-Herder Festival.

Nineties electronic outfit Morcheeba, Seventies chart toppers Boney M and Radio One DJ Pete Tong will all be heading to the Ribble Valley in July.

The three-day independent festival will have over 20 different stages, its own working men’s club and a labyrinth of tunnels and walkways around the site.

A diverse mix of live acts and DJs has already been announced for the event including Orbital, Soulwax, Django Django, David Rodigan (MBE), Congo Natty, Patrick Topping.

In the second wave of artists, six times world snooker champion Steve Davis may be a surprise addition to many. But away from the baize he has forged a second career as a DJ and he will be appearing with multi-instrumentalist and composer Kavus Torabi as the Trash Manor’s Saturday night headliner.

Pete Tong will play the Toil Trees stage on the Saturday night joining the previously announced previously announced OC & Verde.

Also confirmed is house selector, producer, and Outcross Records label boss, Miguel Campell. Closing Saturday night is Josh Butler, the Leeds DJ and producer who champions deep house.

Joining already announced names Utah Saints, Jamz Supanova and Redlight in Beat-Herder’s on The Ring, stage is DJ Zinc.who will headline Friday night, alongside party master A.Skillz.

Then on Saturday night, the Derby-based trio Drumsound and Bassline Smith bring their self-professed ‘body slamming’ high energy to this spiritual stage.

All three headliners are now announced for The Perfumed Garden starting with the Gong who will take to the stage on Friday night.

Following on Saturday night is the DJ MoodyManc and DJ Hiphoppapotamus brings his celebrated sound-system to the Garden for Sunday night’s headline slot, spinning a mix of afro and Caribbean styles mixed with house, breaks and hip-hop.

Each year all the festival stages are handmade from scratch. This year there will be a chapel, tattoo parlour and a hidden swimming pool.

Beat-Herder began as a free DIY party in 1998 and is still run by the same team who set up that first event.
