A FRESH appeal has been launched by police after a teenager suffered facial fractures in a 'serious' crash last week.

Police were called at around 9am on Thursday to the junction of Yew Tree Drive and Whinney Lane in Blackburn after a Citroen C1 car had collided with an Audi A5.

The driver of the Citroen, an 18-year-old man from Blackburn, suffered whiplash injuries and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

A male passenger in the Citroen, aged 17 and from Blackburn, suffered facial fractures and was treated at Royal Preston Hospital.

The Audi driver, a 37-year-old woman from Blackburn, also suffered whiplash injuries and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

Accident investigators attended the scene, with the road closed for more than four hours.

The driver of the Citroen was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Sgt Finn Quainton said: "An investigation is underway following a serious collision in Blackburn.

"While we have made an arrest, we're keen for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

"The road will have been very busy at the time. If you saw what happened and have yet to speak to police, please get in touch."
