A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital following a crash.
Witnesses said a man was knocked from his motorbike in Haslingden Road, Blackburn when it was involved in a crash with a car emerging from Bennington Street, shortly before 1pm today.
One witness said he had seen the incident from the convenience store on the corner of the junction.
He said: “I was in the shop on the corner and saw the whole thing
“He had been driving straight down the street and the car pulled out on him and knocked him off.
“Thank God he had a helmet on.”
A Haslingden Street resident said: "I was upstairs when I heard it, I just heard a massive bang and I ran out into the street.
“I felt sick when I realised what had happened, I didn’t want to look but I wanted to makes sure he was OK.
“Everyone has been amazing, they were coming out with towels and trying to help."
She said the junction is a ‘nightmare’ and it was time something was done about it.
She added: “My family have lived around here for 40 years and have seen a lot of crashes.
“There was a crash in exactly the same spot at the end of last year.
“It’s an absolute nightmare. Something needs to be done to protect people."
A road closure was put in place while paramedics treated the motorcyclist and police carried out investigation work.
A police spokesman declined to comment.
