TWO Blackburn First World War heroes will be remembered in a special ceremony late this month..
Lieutenant Percy Dean and Second-Lieutenant John Schofield were both awarded the Victoria Cross during the 1914-1918 conflict.
Their bravery will be commemorated with paving stones laid outside Blackburn Town Hall on April 23.
Lt Dean was awarded the VC for rescuing100 seamen during a raid on a German-occupied harbour.
Second-Lt Schofield lost his life in an enemy attack in France, aged 26, while capturing 123 German soldiers and saving eight of his men.
Cllr Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: "These were two exceptionally brave men who were a huge credit to our borough, and whose names and memories we should never forget."
