A MAN who stormed out after a row with his mum picked up a bottle out of the recycling bin and threw it back, smashing the kitchen window.
James Armstrong, 28, of Raven Oak Lane, Worsthorne, pleaded guilty to damaging a window belonging to Jane Cockroft. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 moths and ordered to pay £150 compensation, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said Mrs Cockroft said she had an up and down relationship with her son. On the day of the incident he became aggressive after an argument.
"He called her thick and threatened to smash her car up before storming out of the house," said Mrs Geldard. "As he left he picked up a bottle from the recycling box and threw it at the kitchen window."
Armstrong told the court he had lost his job and had been going through a tough time.
"It was out of character and stupid," said Armstrong.
