A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after coming off his motocross bike.
The man suffered a suspected broken leg following the incident on the moors about Rising Bridge.
Firefighters from Rawtenstall and Hyndburn attended the incident along with paramedics, air ambulance staff and volunteers from Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team at around 12.45pm this afternoon.
The man was airlifted to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
A Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team spokesman said: "The team were called out this afternoon to reports of a motor biker having come of his bike in a quarry and badly damaged his leg.
"After some initial inaccurate information we and the local fire crew found the casualty who was being tended to by helimed.
"Helimed requested our assistance as the location was difficult and required more resources than they had.
"Conditions were somewhat bracing but the result was a positive one with the casualty successfully airlifted to hospital."
