A NEWSPAPER cartoonist spoke at an event supporting local dementia care.
The event, hosted by Search Marketing company DigiEnable, Chorley saw local businesses come together to raise money for Chorley based charity Genesis Care North West.
The evening featured a keynote talk from The Times and Spectator cartoonist Tony Husband, famous for his regular Private Eye cartoon strip 'Yobs' and 80’s children’s TV show 'Round the Bend'.
Mr Husband spoke about his book 'Take Care, Son', which charts his father’s battle with dementia, using illustrations to tell the story of how the illness effects the individual, and the impact on their family and friends.
The event was held in town-centre restaurant The Emporium and included a raffle which raised £135 for Genesis Care North West.
Darren Jenkinson, Founding Partner of DigiEnable said “We wanted to create an event which allowed us to say thank you to those who have supported us in building our business, but also raise awareness of a very important, and often misunderstood illness.
"All money raised from the event will be going to support a local charity, Genesis Care North West. who provide well-being and respite services for older people”.
Liz Hardwick, Co-Founder of DigiEnable added “Reaching five years is an important milestone for our business, and we wanted to host an evening that people would remember.
"Having such an amazing speaker, and sharing that experience with other local business owners, made it a night I’ll never forget.”
