FARMER William Hartley wouldn’t let the little matter of winter snow prevent his milk deliveries from getting through.
Sadly we don’t have a note of the date when this picture from the Lancashire Telegraph archives was taken but it shows Mr Hartley, of Crabtree Hurst Farm, Waterfoot, and Blondie the horse with their home made sledge braving the elements.
The snow and ice may have made things difficult for most people but Blondie showed all of his 24 years experience in helping out his owner.
If you have any photographs of life in East Lancashire in days gone by, you can send them to gill.johnson@nqnw.co.uk
