A WOMAN was suffered head injuries after being hit by a car.
Officers were called to the incident in Livesey Branch Road at the junctions of Heys Lane and Alan Shearer Way, in Blackburn, at 6.30pm.
A police spokesman said a woman in her 70's had suffered head and pelvis injuries following the incident.
The road was closed for a period of time.
The spokesman said: "It looks like the woman was a pedestrian and there has been a collision with a blue Nissan X-trail.
"St John's ambulance were in the area and were able to give first aid at the scene.
"She was take to Royal Preston Hospital."
Sergeant Lee Harris of Lancashire’s Road Policing unit, said: "This is a serious collision which happened on a busy road at peak time.
"We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area at this time, and who has information, to come forward."
