A SERIOUS of road works will take place within the coming weeks.
Work has already begin on installing a new noise barrier along the eastbound side of the M65 at junctions seven to eight.
The overnight work takes place between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday and is due to be completed at the end of February.
Overnight closures of the eastbound entry slip road at junction seven will be needed during the work with a clearly signed motorway diversion in place.
A Highways England spokesman said: "Overnight work to install lightening and safety barriers on the A56 Accrington Bypass, from Bent Gate to Edenfield along the northbound and southbound carriageways is due to be completed this winter.
"The work is taking place between 8pm and 6am Monday to Friday.
"Some weekend and daytime working maybe required later in this project.
"Some full carriageway closures may also be required with clearly-signed diversions in place.
"Thise could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
"All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible."
