BUBBLES filled the air as a school prepares to host a family friendly bubble fun-run.

The Bubble Rush, organised by East Lancashire Hospice, was launched at Pleckgate High School, on Pleckgate Road, Blackburn, on Thursday.

Around 30 year seven pupils came out of class to experience the bubbles for themselves prior to the fun run in May.

A bubble cannon was used to fire out the bubbles and foam into the sky.

Blackburn Rovers centre back Paul Downing also attended the launch and posed for photos with the school children.

Paul Downing, who could be one of a number of Blackburn Rovers to attend the fun run event in May, said: “The launch has been great.

"It’s something the kids have really enjoyed and it’s all for a good cause and should be a great day out for families.

"The bubble machine is great – I can’t believe how much foam it creates.”

The fun run event , which is scheduled to take place on the playing fields at the school on Sunday, May 6, will include different coloured bubble checkpoints for participants to run through and a few 'surprises' along the way.

The course can be one lap of 2.5km or runners can double bubble by completing the circuit twice to make 5km.

Entry into the run includes a t-shirt, a medal and live entertainment, as well as access to the Charity Village where runners can get set for their bubble adventure and purchase colourful merchandise.

There will be two different start times for the fun run event. The first course, the Groovy Green, will start at 11am and the second course, Hello Yellow, will start at 12.30pm.

Leanne Green, event fundraiser, said: “The Bubble Rush is guaranteed to be a great day out for the whole family.

"The pupils at Pleckgate High have really enjoyed helping us to launch the event, and the smiles on their faces says a lot."

The first 200 to register will receive 50% off their standard adult and child price, which is £20 for adults and £8 for children.

Children under three can register for free.
